The Learning Support Team (LST) facilitates and co-ordinates a whole school approach to meeting the needs of students with special needs at school.

Support may include:

  • Support Teacher Learning Assistance (STLA) - assistance for students experiencing difficulties in learning.

  • English As A Second Language (ESL) - assistance for students who have English as a second language.

  • Reading Recovery (RR) - assistance for year 1 students experiencing difficulty in learning to read and write after one year at school. The lowest achievers are identified and provided with extra daily individual instruction for 30 minute each day.

  • School Counsellor - assistance for students who are referred by the classroom teacher for academic or social concerns. The school counsellor is available twice a week and parents may also request an appointment/ referral regarding their child.

  • Gifted and Talented Education (G&T) - assistance for identified students in the classroom who require additional support beyond the differentiated curriculum and are operating above stage outcomes.

  • Reading Tutors – assistance in reading is provided by volunteer tutors to identified students.

  • Teacher Aides - under the supervision and direction of teachers, teachers aides are employed to provide eligible students with assistance.
